About VOCNT

Created for the church, enhanced for the academy

VOCNT originated in the pastoral work of M. Scott Bashoor at his church in southern California. He began creating these charts for use at church in the Adult Bible Class which was surveying the New Testament. He then significantly expanded and enhanced the charts for use in the seminary classroom. What was at first envisioned as a collection of 27 charts (one for each NT book) grew to over 70, allowing greater coverage and detail of larger books.

Designed for teachers, students, preachers, and readers

VOCNT has a wide range of possible uses and users. The charts were originally used by the author as he taught through a survey of the NT. Students followed along and took their own supplemental notes. The published editions of VOCNT are suited for many uses. Pastors can use the charts in their study to plan our their preaching series. Teachers can use the charts with a projector to walk through NT books. And students in the classroom or readers at home can use their own copies to wind their way through the NT.

FAQ

HOW MANY VERSIONS OF VOCNT ARE AVAILABLE?
VOCNT was first published in 2016 in an electronic format by B&H Academic Digital, and it was originally released on WORDSearch Bible software. In Fall 2020, WORDSearch was aqcquired by Logos Bible Software where it was rereleased in early 2021.

A paperback "Special Print Edition" was released through CreateSpace in 2017 and is no longer available. The paperback rights were acquired by SCS Press which released a "Revised and Expanded Edition" in July 2020. The revised and expanded edition contains new explanatory text, endorsements, revisions, corrections, and a foreword by Dr. Wayne House. While the page count is approximately the same as the previous paperback edition, the result of good editing and formatting is about 20 new pages of material not available in any of the previous editions.

ARE THE 2020 REVISIONS AND EXPANSIONS AVAILABLE IN THE DIGITAL EDITION AS WELL?
Not at this time. VOCNT is simultaneously distributed by two separate publishers, each with its own unique contract. Revisions to the digital edition may be made at another time. Only the paperback version from SCS Press contains all of the most recent revisions and expansions.

WILL MY WORDSEARCH VERSION CONTINUE TO RUN AFTER THE TRANSFER TO LOGOS IS COMPLETE?
Yes. WORDsearch will continue to run after the final transfer to Logos, but there will be no more updates to WORDSearch Bible software and eventually tech support for it will expire. Logos Bible Software, however, has proven for many decades to be a very stable platform.

ARE THERE OTHER DIGITAL EDITIONS AVAILABLE (E.G. PDF, MOBI, EPUB)?
Not at this time. B&H Academic Digital reserves all rights to the digital version of VOCNT. But with the Logos edition, you can read the book on your PC, MAC, or web apps.

IS THE AUTHOR WORKING ON VISUAL OUTLINE CHARTS OF OTHER BIBLE BOOKS?
Yes. The author is creating new charts as he teaches and preaches through other portions of Scripture (see the SAMPLE tab). He has created charts for a several Old Testament books as well as individual psalms and chapters. Discussions are underway about a future VOCOT. Check back for details or signup for the mailing list by requesting a sample.

WHAT IS MEANT BY THE WEB ADDRESS BiblePrism.com?
The name suggests the dissection of biblical light into its many facets. Just as a prism refracts the different colors of sunlight, so VOCNT breaks down the structure and content of biblical passages, using the colors of the spectrum to guide the eye through the charts.
